Proof of funds (living costs): CAD 23,448 per year for a single student, plus CAD 6,318 for each family member, on top of first-year tuition and travel. Applies to applications from 1 September 2026.

Provincial/Territorial Attestation Letter (PAL/TAL): Required for most students, including diploma and bachelor's programs. Since 1 January 2026, master's and PhD students at public DLIs are exempt; private DLIs still require one.

Student Direct Stream (SDS): Ended on 8 November 2024. Nepal was never an SDS country, so Nepali students have always used the regular study permit process.
