Nepali banks need an NOC from the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MoEST) before they will transfer your tuition and living money abroad. Without it you cannot legally send money to your school through the banking system.
When to apply
Apply once you have an offer letter from a school. You usually need the NOC before you pay the tuition deposit, so plan for it well before your visa application.
What you'll usually need
- Passport
- Offer letter / LOA / CoE with the fee details
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- Details of the program, its length and the school
- The application fee (check the current amount on the portal)
The process
- Apply through MoEST's official NOC portal (noc.moest.gov.np).
- Upload scanned documents and pay the fee.
- Wait for verification. Respond quickly if you're asked for corrections.
- Download or collect the NOC, then take it to your bank to transfer the money.
