    Australian student visa fee is now AUD 2,500

    The base application charge for the subclass 500 main applicant is from AUD 2,500.

    Canada raised the proof-of-funds amount

    Living costs you must show rose to CAD 23,448 for a single student, plus CAD 6,318 for each family member, for applications from 1 September 2026.

    No PAL needed for master's and PhD at public schools

    Master's and doctoral students at public DLIs no longer need a Provincial/Territorial Attestation Letter. Students at private DLIs still do.

    New English test scores for Australian student visas

    For tests taken from 7 August 2025 the visa minimum is IELTS Academic 6.0, PTE Academic 47 or TOEFL iBT 67. At-home online tests are not accepted, and TOEFL takers must select 'Taking TOEFL for Australia' (from 21 January 2026).
