Canada or Australia? How to choose

Compare cost, intakes, work rights, post-study options and lifestyle before you commit.

1 min read🇨🇦 Canada · 🇦🇺 Australia

Both countries welcome Nepali students and both have large Nepali communities. The better choice depends on your budget, your field of study, your timeline and what you want after you graduate. Pick based on your plans, not on what your friends chose.

Questions to answer first

  1. How much can your family realistically show, and spend, for the first year?
  2. Which field do you want to study, and is it in demand in that country?
  3. Do you want to stay and work after graduating, or come back to Nepal?
  4. Is a spouse or child coming with you? Rules on dependants differ a lot.
  5. Which intake can you realistically meet? Most people need 9–12 months to prepare.

Red flags when someone pushes one country

  • They promise permanent residence (PR). No one can guarantee PR.
  • They only suggest one college, especially an expensive private one.
  • They can't explain why this country suits your profile better than the other.
